Gemma Goepel and Colin Winter of the Nevada County Gold JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) team achieved a No. 1 ranking in their respective divisions as the State Archers of California concluded their 2006 competitive outdoor season Sept. 16-17 with the Pacific Coast Championships at Discovery Park in Sacramento.

Sixteen-year-old Goepel, who lives in the Penn Valley area, sealed her No. 1 ranking in the Female Cadet Olympic Recurve division by winning three of the four state ranking competitions, including a win in the two-day Pac Coast competition by a one-point margin.

After competing nationally this summer in
Ohio and Colorado, Goepel also secured a No. 7 Junior SAT (United States Archery team) national ranking.

Winter, who lives in the
Grass Valley area and is also 16 years old, won three of the four state ranking competitions in the Male Cadet Olympic Recurve division.
