Crowning a successful indoor archery season, Grass Valley's Colin Winter won a silver medal in the United States 2006 Junior Olympic Archery Development National Indoor Championships, the final results of which were announced recently by the National Archery Association.

Winter was the top finisher in the Cadet Recurve Division (16 & under Olympic Style) among the 10 states that comprise the NAA's Western Region. He faced some stiff competition among the 71 participants from across the country.

In January, Winter successfully defended last year's California State Indoor JOAD title and also won the NAA State Indoor and the CBH/SAA Indoor Championships. Winter currently holds five state archery records and is a member of the Nevada County Gold competitive archery team coached by Charley Washburn and Steve Ross of
Nevada City.

Fellow team members Alden Harris and Miles Ross also won 2006 CA State Indoor Championship titles in their respective divisions in January and Harris took first place at the World Archery Festival in
Las Vegas in February.

Winter is a sophomore at
Bitney Springs High School.

In early April the team will officially resume its training for the outdoor season at the Nevada County Sportsmen's Club in
Nevada City.
