Penn Valley Archer Wins National Title

Trelaina Borges wins 2005 JOAD National Indoor Title.

April 8, 2005

Trelaina Borges, a 15-year-old Penn Valley archer, shot her way to a national championship title in Salt Lake City on March 4-6.

Borges won the JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) title and finished second in another national championship event, the NAA (National Archery Association) National Indoor Championships held during the same time period.

All this comes on the heels of an excellent showing by the Nevada County Gold Archery team at the World Archery Festival in
Las Vegas on February 25-26. Four out of six Gold Team members attending finished on the podium.

Team members Alden Harris and Codey Borges each finished second within their respective divisions, while
Trelaina Borges and Gemma Goepel each finished third.

Gold Team members participate in state and national competitions and currently hold 19 state records. Team members will be traveling to
Orlando, Fla. and Colorado Springs, Colo. for national events this summer.

To help with the costs of these and other archery events the Gold Team is holding a silent auction and spaghetti dinner on May 14. The event will be held at the Sportsman's Club on Banner Mountain Trail.

The auction begins at
4:30 p.m. with a spaghetti dinner available during the auction. Dinner is $6 a plate. The auction will feature sporting goods and services provided by Gold Team members.

For more information about the silent auction and dinner please contact Julie and Kurtis Zumwalt at 274-9456, Adrienne Winter at 477-8696, or
