Local junior archer Trelaina Borges won the women's senior division in the Ninth Annual Grapestakes Sept. 3-4, a tournament for California archers held in Tulare.

Borges is currently
California's top-ranked archer in the cadet women, recurve category by the State Archers of California.

For the Grapestakes, Borges competed as an adult against some of the best archers in the state.

"We wanted her to see this level of competition," said Charlie Washburn, coach of the Nevada County Gold Junior Olympic Archery Development team.

Other notables at the tournament were Kate Anderson, currently ranked No. 1 on the college women's and senior women's list and three-time Olympian Janet Dykman, ranked as the No. 2 senior woman by SAC, the governing body for archers in California.

Borges' two-day total was good enough to beat Dykman by 10 points, 1221-1211.

Next up for Borges and the Nevada County Gold is the Pacific Coast Championships being held in
Sacramento's Discovery Park Sept. 16-18.
